Sony Loaning Vita Dev Kits to Indie Devs

Sony is lending out PS Vita dev kits to various indie game developers, Gamasutra reported earlier today. Rubicon Development, creators of Great Little War Game for iOS, will be bringing their title over to the platform using the four loaner dev kits that Sony tossed their way. Well, that’s grand of them!

Even if indie developers are reportedly going to have to return the dev kits as soon as they’re done, this is not only a respectable move from Sony; it’s a smart one, too. The indie gaming scene on mainstream consoles is getting hardly the attention it deserves, as proven by a report by Zeboyd Games that their games Breath of Death VII and Cthulhu Saves the World, within a week of being on Steam, surpassed their sales from over an entire year of being on the Xbox Indie Games channel. That’s some poor exposure, thar.

Let’s hope Sony keeps this up, and that we get to see some unique indie titles coming to the Vita.
